Stuart F. Maybury Jr., 82, of Northford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Yale New Haven Hospital with his family by his side.  He was the beloved husband and soulmate of 33 years to Margaret Brezicki-Maybury.  Stu was born in New Haven on July 2, 1940 and was the son of the late Stuart F. Maybury, Sr. and Adeline Krott Maybury.   He was a graduate of Hamden High School Class of 1958.  Stu worked as a driver for CT Poultry in Hamden, Carrano’s Express in Northford for 25 ½ years, and Plymouth Rock Transportation in Northford for 10 years.  He was a member of the Teamsters Local 443 for 35 ½ years. Stu was an avid fly fisherman, enjoyed the outdoors, and ran English Pointers in Field Trials.  He was also an avid UConn Women’s Basketball fan.  After acquiring his English Pointer  Judy (Maybury’s Missy J), Stu and his wife bred a litter of pups that would become future winners in many field trials.  He took great pride in winning the New England Walking Championship with his dog Benny (Rail’s Gentle Ben) and in Region 1 (AFTCA) winning runner-up amateur horseback shooting dog championship with his dog Nicky (Rail’s High Alert). Stu also ran in many local field trials with his other dogs Maggie and Casey.  Nicky also won the Futurity at Baldwinsville, NY over 62 dogs in 1997 (handled by pro-trainer Bruce Jacobs with his wife Barbara).  Stu retired in 2002 and continued to enjoy fly fishing, his John Deere tractor, love of Corvettes, and his English Pointers. He also missed his cherished English Pointer (Speckles) who he adopted from Rawhide Rescue in New Jersey and leaves his faithful English Pointer Dolli, a rescue from American Pointer Rescue in Ohio and fostered in NC.  He was a member of NRA and Trout Unlimited.  Stu was honest, always organized, caring, and loving husband who will be deeply missed by many including his wife Margaret and fur baby Dolli. Father of Timothy S. Maybury of North Haven, Keith C. Maybury of Martha’s Vineyard, MA.  Stepfather of Raymond (Kim) Hill of Bluffton, SC.  Brother of Richard Maybury (Mary) of Ormond Beach, FL.  Also survived by several nieces, nephews, special cousins, and many dear friends.  The family would like to thank the care and compassion given by the dedicated health care professionals, especially Mary Beth at St. Raphael’s Campus and Matt and Sue at Yale New Haven Hospital.  Words cannot express our appreciation.

The visiting hours will be Wednesday morning, Dec. 7th at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue from 9:00 to 11:00 with a Panachyda service at 10:00.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 569 George Street, New Haven at 11:30. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Animal Haven, Inc., 89 Mill Road, North Haven CT 06473 or Trout Unlimited, 1300 North 17th Street, Suite 500, Arlington, VA 22209-3801 or St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church or a charity of one’s choice.
