Vincent Philip Esposito, 89, died peacefully at home on Sunday, March 2, 2014 following a long, hard-fought battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Vinny was a fun-loving, tender man who loved dogs. We are deeply saddened over the loss of a gentle, hard-working husband and beloved father and grandfather. He will remain always cherished in our hearts. Born to the late Lucy and Salvatore Esposito, July 15, 1924, Vinny is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Mimi Valenza Esposito of North Haven, two dear daughters, Yvonne McGrath and Michele Briggs of Pleasantville, N.Y. and their kind and loving spouses, Dr. Patrick McGrath and William Briggs. Vinny received much joy from his four beloved granddaughters, Erin and Kelly McGrath and Mimi and Caroline Briggs. Brother of the late Josephine Warner of Woodbridge and surviving sister, Evelyn Bradley of No. Palm Beach, Fla. The family wishes to express profound gratitude to Dr. Paul Monaco who faithfully guided Vinny along his arduous journey, Vitas Hospice for their compassionate care, Whitney Manor’s dedicated and supportive staff, and lastly to Jonathan Ayitey for his outstanding care giving, appreciated more than words can express.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Thursday morning at 9:30. A service will be conducted in St. John’s Episcopal Church, North Haven at 10:00. Entombment will follow in the All Saints Mausoleum. The visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either: The Animal Haven, Inc., 89 Mill Rd., North Haven, CT 06473 or Vitas Hospice, 199 Park Rd., Suite 102, Middlebury, CT 06762.
It was a pleasure to get to know the Esposito Family. We were very fond of Vinny and enjoyed his company. Daphne, our Standard Poodle, loved to visit Vinny every morning. We found that this special family had a very strong bond of love. We will miss Vinny!
Thinking of you at this time and thankful you allowed me to be part this journey with you.
May the love of family and friends sustain you in these difficult days. Memories of Vinny are filled with laughter and care. His love of family, animals and life were second to none. We wish that we could join you all in celebration of his life, but know that our prayers and thoughts are with you. Love, Randy and Debbie.
Although we are saddened by our uncle Vinny's passing, we are comforted to know that he is reunited with his sister and his parents in the peace of God's presence. We cherish our many fond memories of family times together in New Haven. To Mimi and our cousins we extend our heartfelt condolences. You are in our thoughts and in our prayers.
