Thomas M. Manzi, 89, of Wallingford, former longtime resident of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at the Masonicare Health Center, Wallingford. He was the husband of the late Mae Benedetto. Thomas was born in New Haven on April 10, 1924; son of the late Francesco and Raffaela Nastri Manzi; had worked for the former Adley Express Trucking Company and later for Amtrak until his retirement. Thomas enjoyed traveling with his late wife throughout the country and abroad, enjoyed and was an excellent dancer, was an avid fisherman, loved to bowl, was an devoted New York Mets fan, was a former member of Annex Y.M.A but most of all was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Loving father of Deborah DeLaurentis and Theresa Benedetto. Brother of Theresa Grego and the late Patricia DePonte, Madeline, Louis, John, Alphonse, James, Michael, Anthony and Andrew Manzi. Beloved grandfather to six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Saturday morning at 8:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Michael Church, New Haven at 9:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 pm.
