Robert H. Gilman, Sr., 87, of Woodbridge, passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 12, 2015. He was a lifelong resident of West Haven. Born in West Haven on March 12, 1928. He was the son of the late Lorenzo Howard Gilman and Mae Spanutius Gilman. Robert was predeceased by his late wife Annmarie Torielli Gilman, mother of his three children, his wife Annette Gilhuly Gilman and his sister Barbara Reid. Father of Robert (Carolyn) Gilman, Jr., Patricia (Michael) Gormley and Katherine (Kevin) Smith. Grandfather of Robert (Kathy) Gilman III, Michael (Honore) Gormley, Jr., Anne Gormley and Kevin Smith, Jr. Great Grandfather to Calvin Gormley, Fiona Gormley and Lillian Gilman. He was employed by Foskett and Bishop Piping Co. before owning his own company for 29 years, Robert H. Gilman Mechanical Contractors Inc. Bob served his country faithfully in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Bob was very proud of being a friend of Bill W. for over 46 years. The family would like to thank Coachman Square of Woodbridge Safe Harbor and Excella Home Care for the Wonderful care they gave Bob.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home 36 Washington Avenue Saturday morning at 10:00. Family and friends may call from 9:00 am until time of service. Interment with full military honors will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
