Irene S. Knoth, of Ashlar Village, Wallingford, passed away peacefully June 13. She was 91. Irene was the beloved wife of the late William H. Knoth, Sr. Mrs. Knoth was born in Derby, CT October 5, 1921, daughter of the late Stanley and Rose Siennicki, and sister of the late Bertha S. Wayne. She is survived by her son, William H. Knoth, Jr. (Nilda) of Florida, three granddaughters, two great granddaughters and a nephew, Jeffrey N. Wayne (Carolyn). She graduated from Hillhouse High School (1939), and the former Grace Hospital School of Nursing (1942). She served as a surgical nurse at Grace Hospital. Irene also volunteered her services as a “History Nurse” with the South Central CT Red Cross Blood Program for many years, and was recognized for her years of work with a service award by the Red Cross in Washington, DC. Irene spent the past five years residing at Ashlar Village, where she enjoyed the many activities and wonderful friendships that she had made. Her family would like to thank all of those kind staff members, who provided her with loving care at Masonicare and the Acute Care Center within that facility.
Funeral services will be conducted at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave, North Haven, on June 15. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
