Madeline (Ascenzia) DeGennaro, 88, of Orange, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the CT Hospice, Branford. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph L. DeGennaro. Madeline was born in New Haven on July 5, 1925; daughter of the late Giovanni and Philomena DeSimone Ascenzia; had worked at Jimmies Restaurant of Savin Rock for many years; was a member of the West Haven Italian-American Ladies Auxillary; enjoyed vacationing with her husband and friends; enjoyed bingo, trips to the casino and was a avid New York Yankees fan. Mother of Frank (Pattee Villano) DeGennaro, Phyllis Testa, Gina (Michael) Keyes with whom she had resided. Grandmother of Nicole (Mario) Coppola, Joseph Testa, Ashley and Michael Keyes. The family would also like to thank the Visiting Nurses Association of Orange, especially Trish and Laura, for their many years of excellent care. A special “Thank You†to the CT Hospice of Branford for their wonderful care and compassion.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Road, Orange on Thursday morning at 11:00 to attend a mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal services immediately following in St. Lawrence Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the CT Hospice, Inc., 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue has been entrusted with arrangements.
