Mary Cozzi DeLuca, 92, of Manila Avenue, Woodbridge, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 29, 2013 at the Arden House Rehab & Nursing Center, Hamden. She was the wife of the late Frank DeLuca. Born in New Haven on May 30, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Vito and Immaculata Panico Cozzi. Mary left school at an early age to work and help support her family; she was a seamstress and tailor having worked for the former Berger Brothers of New Haven; however her claim to fame was her excellence in tailoring. She lovingly created beautiful wedding dresses for not only her family but many others. She also made the baptismal garbs for the Assumption church for newly christened infants. Her kind and generous spirit and loving heart will be missed everyday but will be remembered forever by those she leaves behind. Mother of Kathleen DeLuca (Jack) Consoli of Bethany and Frank (Robyn) DeLuca, Jr. of Woodbridge. The loving grandmother (Mimi) of Chelsea Marko, Crystal, Mary and Molly Consoli. Sister of Shirley Vitale of New Haven and the late Alphonse, Domenic and Pasquale Cozzi, Ronata Cozzi Quinlan, Rose Cozzi Caruso, Carmel Cozzi Shea and Beverly Cozzi Clark. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Saturday afternoon at 3:00 with the Rev. Gene Gianelli officiating. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mary’s life from 1:00 until time of service at 3:00 pm. Interment will be private and
at the convenience of the family.
