Philip Edward Munson, age 47, of Meriden, passed away Friday, September 13, 2013 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of JoAnn Nemecek Munson. Son of Bryant and Sara Munson of North Haven. Philip graduated from Branford Hall Career Institute, Southington in 2003 specializing in Computer and Networking Technology; had worked in CT area companies setting up and troubleshooting computer and security problems. Philip enjoyed collecting comic books, loved music and movies especially old movies with John Wayne and Humphrey Bogart; was always ready to play cards and was especially happy spending time on Otis Reservoir in MA. Beloved step-father of Nichole Nemecek, and loving grandfather of Cynthia Nemecek and Savannah (Bruce) Bailey all of Machias, ME. Brother of Jennifer (John Dunkle) Munson of Portsmouth, NH. Nephew of Mark (Helen) Mansfield of Worcester, MA and Alan (Helaine) Munson of Thousand Oaks, CA. Also survived by many cousins. Philip was devoted to his family and kept in touch with all of them. The family would like to thank the Yale Liver Transplant Unit and especially the staff and doctors of the Yale Medical ICU for their wonderful care of Philip and our family. We urge everyone to become an organ donor.
Private funeral services have entrusted to the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. There will be no visiting hours. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
