Matthew “Matty†Joseph Jacques, beloved six year old son of Alphonse M. and Melissa Rohloff Jacques of North Haven, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital, Manhattan, NY with his loving family by his side. Matty was born in New Haven on January 8, 2007 and was a first grade student at Montowese School, North Haven. Matty loved the game of football and baseball: touched the lives of many in and out of his community and fought a brave and courageous battle with a bright smile and a “thumbs upâ€. Brother of Nicholas and Tyler Jacques. Grandson of Paul Jacques, Deborah Gaudio, George Rohloff and Claire Purcella Edwards. Great-Grandson of Alphonse Gaudio and Norma Jacques. Great-Great grandson of Mae Gaudio. Nephew of Nicole, Taylor and Jordan Jacques. Cousin of Gabby Cunha. Also survived by many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to the Dunbar United Church of Christ, 419 Dunbar Hill Rd., Hamden Wednesday morning, Oct. 2nd at 11:00 to attend a funeral service and are also invited to attend the committal services immediately following in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Tuesday, Oct. 1st from 3 to 8 pm at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue.
Our deepest sympathy is with you and your Angel Matty. Our family was at the football game when Matty ran down the field for his touch down and the North Haven Team all fell on the ground. The smile on your son’s face will be forever in our hearts and all of you will be in our prayers. Matty will be missed by so many who loved and cared about him and the family.. God Bless you.

I never met you son. I have friends who knew of him, and recently read quite a bit about his inspiration life. He was as much an angel here on Earth as I am sure he is now looking down on us all from Heaven. Peace be with your family at this difficult time.
Words can not describe the impact Matthew has had on my life, and I only had the honor of meeting him once. I apologize I can not give my condolences in person tomorrow or Wednesday, but know that Matthew will always hold a spot in my heart and in my prayers. I can not thank you and your family enough for letting me spend time with such an incredible soul. I only wish others had the same opportunity that I was given. However, I know His plan is far greater then we can imagine, and Matthew will continue to impact and change lives for the better.
