Jacqueline Susan Gherlone (Smith), 77, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family nearby on July 31, 2016. Jacqueline was born in New Haven, CT on October 22, 1938 to the late Peter and Emily Smith (Affinito). Jackie graduated from Hillhouse High School in New Haven, CT. She received her Bachelors Degree in Education from The University of Connecticut and a Masters Degree from Southern Connecticut. Jacqueline taught middle school science and raised her children before going into business with her husband Richard. Together they owned and operated Air Balancing Service Co. from 1980 to 2001. Jacqueline was a member of North Haven Congregational Church in North Haven, CT for 50 years. She and Richard moved to the Port Orange area in 2002, where they enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. Jacqueline is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Richard J. Gherlone, Jr.; daughter Susan Beth Higgins (Robert); son, Richard P. Gherlone (Pamela); grandchildren, Kristofer Alan Collins, Jacqueline Rileigh Gherlone and Onalee Lucille Collins.
A memorial service will be held at the North Haven Congregational Church on Saturday August 27th, 2016 at 11 AM. Interment was privately held in Beaverdale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Halifax Health Hospice, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129 or North Haven Congregational Church, 28 Church St, North Haven, CT 06473.

May you find comfort in the beautiful words found at Revelation 21:3 & 4, where God promises us that He will soon eliminate all pain, suffering and death. My condolences in the loss of your loved one. I would like to share some encouraging thoughts from the Bible. The pain of grief we feel when our loved ones die can sometimes be unbearable. The comforting words from our heavenly father Jehovah found at Isaiah 25:8; He (God) will swallow up death forever. And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe the tears from all faces, and Psalm 34:18; Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit, will help you to cope with the grief and sadness now and in the days ahead.
