SCHETTINO, DOMINIC L.
Dominic L. Schettino, 95, formerly of Kensington for many years until moving to North Haven, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at his home. He was the husband of the late Louise Masselli Schettino. Dominic was born in New Haven on November 26, 1920; son of the late Antonio and Teresa Vece Schettino; served his country faithfully in the US Marine Corps during WW II receiving the Bronze Star Medal for his heroic achievement during action against the enemy Japanese forces on Iwo Jima and the Volcano Islands; wounded in action he was awarded the Purple Heart. Dominic had worked as a Tool & Die Maker for many years in the New Britain and Kensington area; an avid golfer, he was a member of the Timberlin Golf Course in Berlin; was a member of the Berlin Senior Center. Brother of Carmen Schettino and the late Annette VanderMaelen, Lucy Kaminsky, Anna “Annie” D’Urso, Ralph, Fred, Joseph, William and Samuel Schettino. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews throughout the United States
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Thursday morning at 10:30. Family and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian burial will follow in St. Barnabas Church at 11:00 am. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. John Cemetery, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or a charity of one’s choice.

My first day at Carmen Romano, Dom. welcomed me with a big smile" nice to see a young vet. for a change. .We bonded from there on.. Sat a talked ON Mon day got his mail for him. The good Lord will hold him close to his heart
