Ralph A. Prete, 77, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Nancy LaTulippe Prete. Ralph was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 21, 1938; son of the late Ralph and Louise Ferrara Prete; had worked for the former Tire King of West Haven, was co-owner of R & L Auto Service of West Haven with his good friend Louis Esposito, was the owner of Prete’s Firestone of North Haven and later had worked for Advanced Auto. Ralph was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Donaher Council of North Haven and the North Haven Senior Center. He served in the US Marine Reserves, was a NY Giants fan, enjoyed playing cards (especially Texas Hold-Um), going to the casino but especially enjoyed his family whom he loved unconditionally. Father of Louann (Pat) Piccirillo, Ralph (Marie) Prete, Lisa Erff and Cathryn Donovan. Also survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue on Monday evening at 7:00. Family and friends may call from 4:00 pm until time of service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.

We met in 3rd grade at Montowese school and became very good friends. We had a lot of fun together.
We continued our friendship for all of these years. I will never forget when I was in the Navy and came home on leave, you would always include me in your plans.
You had that friendly smile & always had an upbeat personality. You were always so proud of your wife Nancy & your children.
