John Anthony Martino, 73, of Ashlar Village, Wallingford, formerly of Village Street, Northford for 40 years, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2014 at the Masonicare Health Center, Wallingford. He was the husband of 51 years to Patricia Ann Marcati Martino. John was born in New Haven on September 5, 1941; son of the late Michael J. and Mollie Acampora Martino; grew up in East Haven; was a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University obtaining his Bachelors and Master degrees in Education. He was a Teacher for 35 years for the Regional School District 13 and was Adjunct Professor at the SCSU History Department. John was a 35 year member of the Knights of Columbus Totoket Council and a parishioner of St. Monica Church. Father of Michael John Martino and his wife Larisa, Susan Patricia Klemm and her husband Richard. Sister of Virginia Phoenix and her husband Robert. Grandfather of Rachel Marie and Sebastian Festa Martino, Meghan Nichole, Jason Matthew and Joshua Andrew Klemm, Alex and Christopher Micheletti. Uncle of Peter & Stephen Phoenix, Vicki Tarducci, Paul Marcati, Albert, Joseph, Dino and Marc Carfora.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Thursday morning 9:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Monica Church at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 pm.
I am very sorry for your loss. Although I did not know your loved one personally, I hope knowing that they are in our loving heavenly Father's memory will bring your family comfort during this difficult time. Very soon now we can look forward to God's promise at a Revelation 21:4: "… Death will be no more, neither will mourning, nor outcry, nor pain be anymore, the former thing have passed away."
