Joyce Sue Parauka, 71, died peacefully on April 1, 2016 from cancer. She was born in Yonkers, New York on May 3, 1944, and resided in Hamden, Ct. for most of her life. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Edward; her daughter Valerie; daughter, Pamela, and her husband Anthony (NoHFD), and her two grandchildren, Dominic and Victoria. She graduated from S.C.S.U. with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1975. She was also an artist who inspired creativity. She spent countless hours doing arts & crafts, singing, and drawing with her grandchildren. Her numerous family photographs were collected into beautiful collage art albums. She was an amateur interior designer who designed the 5 homes she owned with her husband. She enjoyed going to car shows with her husband in his 1947 Plymouth Coupe. She created a spectacular 1940's ambience in each show they attended. She was a home health aide for many years helping to create a loving and safe environment for her clients.  She was a volunteer facilitator for the Stroke Club in Hamden enlarging the existing support group for her clients and getting articles into national magazines to raise awareness of Stroke issues. She was very devoted to her family, especially her husband, and was her children and grandchildren's #1 Fan. Her life as a mother, her marriage, and her artistic accomplishments contributed positively to all those touched by her life.

Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Sunday evening at 8:00. Relatives and friends may call from 5 until time of service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
