Roberta C. Bowden Cordner, 81, of Northford, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2014 with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Edward J. Cordner. Roberta was born in East Haven on December 26, 1932; daughter of the late Robert C. and Lillian B. Patterson Bowden; she obtained her teaching degree from Southern Connecticut State College; was a teacher in the area and was also a Christian Education Teacher. She enjoyed gardening, birds and traveling. She is survived by four children, Mark Cordner (Jayne), Matthew Cordner (Denise), James Cordner (fiancé Marlese Dalton) and Candace Vorio (Catherine Fisher); seven granddaughters, of Colleen and Melissa Cordner, Aryn Davidson (Michael), Caitlin, Tara, Rachel and Amy Cordner (Zachary Newton); a sister, Bettye Cote, a brother, Robert Bowden and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Lillian Masotta, Kathleen Salminen and Marjorie Bloom.
Private funeral services have been entrusted to the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Interment was privately held in the Northford Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Sunday, October 5th, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Northford Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Northford Congregational Church Steeple Fund, Old Post Road, Northford, CT 06472.
