Chester J. Dombek, 91, of Assumption Street, New Haven, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at his home. He was the husband of the late Genevieve M. DeMichele Dombek. Born in New Haven on July 15, 1922; son of the late Charles and Helen Holbat Dombek; served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army during WW II; was the owner and operator of the former Marshall Gun Shop of East Haven and Wallingford, had worked for the former Adley Express Trucking Company and O.F. Mossberg until his retirement. He was a member of the Elm City Gun Club. Father of Patricia A. Ruggiero of North Haven. Grandfather of Deana Spadacenta of North Haven. Predeceased by his son-in-law Frank Ruggiero and siblings, Stella Sherneski, Walter and Joseph Dombek.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Saturday morning at 10:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Therese Church at 11:00. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 pm.
