Gary R. Thompson, 58, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the Masonicare Health Center, Wallingford. He was the husband of Heidi Boettger. Gary was born in New Haven on September 26, 1957; son of Ann Hoffstadt Thompson and the late Robert Thompson and had worked as a Field Service Engineer for Trumpf America since 1997. He was a lifetime member of the Elm City Gun Club; assistant scout master and briefly scout master of Troop #811, North Haven. Gary survived many camping trips, was an avid hiker, enjoyed family vacations including Block Island and Cape Cod, loved the outdoors and was always loyal to his friends. The family would like to extend a special ”Thank You” to Trumpf America and their staff for all their continued support. Father of Christian (Melissa) Thompson and Max Thompson. Brother of Shari (Ken) Long and Lise (Kevin) Cavallaro. Son-in-law of Ilse Boettger and late Max Boettger. Brother-in-law of Robert and Fritz Boettger. Uncle of Nick and Gina Cavallaro. Also survived by his former wife Joanne Goodwin.
Family and friends may call at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Friday evening Oct. 9th from 5 to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, P.O. Box 32, Milford, CT 06460 or Appalachian Mountain Club, 5 Joy Street, Boston, MA 02108 in memory of Gary Thompson for Trail Maintenance.
