Rosa Dietrich Adler, 96, formerly of Atwater Street, New Haven passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2014 at the Orchard Grove Specialty Care Center, Uncasville.  She was predeceased by her husband Leo Adler and all 13 siblings.  Rosa was born in the Ukraine on August 27, 1918, the daughter of the late Matthias and Ida Kuhn Dietrich.  She moved to Germany in 1943 after being told to leave, due to war.  On Nov. 22, 1955, she immigrated with her family to New Haven Ct. via the General Langfitt (from Bremen, Germany); being sponsored by Petro Ziwak.  In just 3 years, she purchased the home on Atwater St. where she lived for 50 years.  Rosa had worked at the Mary Wade Home for 17 years and was a member of the Harugari German Club.  Mother to Elvira Reinholtz, Erika Koslov and William Adler, she is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  Rosa spoke 3 languages and loved animals, esp. cats and also loved to cook and garden!  Rosa always was compassionate and loved everyone, esp. her many friends, neighbors and family!  The family wants to thank those who loved her and those who cared for her and made her comfortable at Orchard Grove (in last 6 years).

Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Monday morning at 10:30.  Family and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 am.  A Mass of Christian burial will follow in St. Frances Cabrini Church at 11:00.  Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
