Richard Joseph Mulligan of Ware, MA, formerly of Hamden, CT and County Sligo, Ireland, entered into eternal rest with his family by his side on Saturday, April 30, 2011, after a valiant fight against cancer. Richard was born in Sligo, Ireland on July 7, 1939 to the late Mary “Mollie” Heraghty Mulligan and John “Sonny” Mulligan. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister Catherine “Kitsy” Cunningham, his brother, father Paddy Burrows, his son, John Bishop and his sister-in-law Noreen Mulligan. He his survived by his beloved wife Charlotte E. Mulligan and his children, Cathy and her husband John Maher of Holden, MA, Leigh Mulligan, Deirdra and her husband Scott Bishop all of Hamden, Richard Mulligan and his wife Dawn of Wallingford, Colleen and her husband Rick George of Hamden and his devoted niece Deirdre Watters of Wallingford. His grandchildren: John and Rachel Maher, Wayne, Sean and Chris Mumford,
Molly-Kate and Emily Bishop, Sonny Mulligan. Richard is also survived by his siblings: John Mulligan of County Cork, Ireland, Martin and Noreen Mulligan, Marion and Edward Watters, Paddy Cunningham all of County Sligo, Ireland, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and his first wife Christina Mullaney Mulligan of Middletown.
Funeral Services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Thursday morning at 11:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm. A Memorial Mass will be offered at All Saints Church, North Street, Ware, MA on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Baystate Mary Lane Hospital, Regional Cancer Program, 85 South St., Ware, MA 01082.
