Walter Patten Bennett, Sr., 86, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Monday November 16, 2015, at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was the husband of the late Gertrude Irene Roche Bennett for over 53 years. Walt was born in New Haven, June 14, 1929, the son of the late Charles William and Emma Patten Bennett. He was a graduate of Hill House High School in 1947. He served in the signal core during the Korean War in the US Army. Following his service he worked for several years for Hatry Electronics in New Haven. He spent most of his career working for, and later becoming owner/operator of Anthes Door Control for over 40 years. Walt, “The Train Man”, was fond of family camping, collecting antique cars and Garden Railroading. He is survived by two sons, Walter P. Bennett, Jr. and his wife Laurie of Maine, William C. Bennett and his wife Patricia, of North Haven; grandchildren, Alan Bennett of Maine, Jamie Brandi of California, Christopher Bennett of Plainville CT and Kelly Bennett of North Haven; and his niece Katherine Pierce and her family of East Haven.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Thursday morning at 11:00 with the Rev. Jerry Jones officiating. Family and friends may call from 9:30 until time of service. Interment will follow in the Northford Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.

So sorry to hear your dad passed on. From his picture he looks like such a nice man. It's very hard to loose your parents. I don't really like the word loose because you never loose them.
