Timothy B. Connell, 91, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 62 years to the late Anne K. O’Keefe Connell. Tim was born in Lebanon, New Hampshire on March 31, 1925; son of the late Timothy J. and Antoinette Daigle Connell; served his country faithfully in the US Army during WW II; received a Bachelor’s degree from Plymouth State, a Master’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University and his 6th Year from Fairfield University. He was a Science Teacher for the North Haven School System for 37 years until his retirement in 1987. Throughout his years at North Haven High School, Tim coached varsity football, varsity basketball, was an assistant track coach and received the Marian Chair Sports Award from the Knights of Columbus in 1969, was on the Hall of Fame Committee and was the Coaches Award Inductee in 2000. Tim was also camp director for the YMCA for 22 summers and was an active member of the Tomahawk Club. Father of Sheila (Raymond) Gabucci, Susan (Matthew) Marchini and Judy (Jon) Northway. Grandfather of Christian T. Gabucci, Aeryn C. Northway and the late Nicholas R. Gabucci. Also survived by a special cousin Gordon Plummer, many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by his step father Howard Glynn and brothers Norman and James Connell. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to all the nurses and staff on Floor 7-5 at Yale New Haven Hospital for all the excellent care and comfort they provided to Tim; to his caregivers Theresa and Jean; to the nurses and staff of the Branford Connecticut Hospice Homecare.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue Wednesday morning at 11:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Frances Cabrini Church at 12 noon. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the North Haven Public School Athletic Department, Attention Finance Director., 5 Linsley Street, North Haven, CT 06473.

Mr. Connell was my biology teacher at North Haven High School in 1975. He was a great teacher and I have many fond memories of his class.
