Nestore “Nes” DelMonte, 75, of Madison, formerly of West Haven and Hamden passed away peacefully on Friday January 1, 2016 in his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband to Savina Caponera DelMonte for 51 years. Nes was born in Fumone, province of Frosinone, Italy on September 10, 1940; son of the late Eduardo and Palmira Magnanimi DelMonte.  Nes was a security guard at University of New Haven for over 10 years while working for Evergreen Cemetery Association of New Haven for 37 years until his retirement.  Nes was a member of the Allingtown Volunteer Fire Dept; Sargent of the West Haven Police Auxillary; Life Member of the San Cataldo Society and, Parishioner and Usher at St. Margaret’s Church, Madison.  Dearly loved Father of Eduardo Diego DelMonte (Kim Sampiere), Tina Lucatino (Gino), Daniela Pellegrino (Anthony), and Christy Perfetto (Christopher).  Cherished Grandfather of Gabriella and Luciano DelMonte, Marco and Briana Lucatino, David Pellegrino, Christopher, Mia and Andrew Perfetto.  Also survived by sister-in-law Antonietta DelMonte of Wallingford, and many cherished niece, nephew, great niece and great nephews.  Predeceased by sister Mafalda DiFede of Fumone, Italy, brother Giuseppe DelMonte of Wallingford and niece Antonella DiFede of Fumone, Italy.

Services were held in his hometown of Fumone, Italy, coordinated by his close cousins Giuseppe & Anna Maria DelMonte.  Nestore enjoyed returning to his hometown spending many summers with his friends and family.  He also enjoyed gardening, winemaking and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Margaret’s Church 24 Academy Street, Madison on Thursday morning at 10:00 to attend a Mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal services immediately following in the St. Lawrence Mausoleum.  The visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8pm at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue.
