Silvio J. DiGioia, 86, of Thompson Street, East Haven passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at St. Raphael’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Arlene DiGioia. Born in New Haven on June 23, 1924; son of the late Francesco and Stella Maria Logioco DiGioia. Silvio was a laborer for many years and had served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army during WW II. Predeceased by his son John DiGioia. Step-father of Robert Proto of FL and Barbara Roberts of Meriden. Brother of Orlando DiGioia of North Haven, Viola Murray, Emelia Lyons, Jeanette and Adeline DiGioia all of East Haven and the late Edward and Robert DiGioia. Also survived by several grandchildren, great-children, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Ave., North Haven on Friday morning at 10:00 for a Mass of Christian Burial and are also invited to attend the Committal Services immediately following in All Saints Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue has been entrusted with his arrangements.
