Joseph Guandalini, 88, died peacefully on Saturday, May 21, 2011, in his home in North Haven surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his wife, of 65 years, Roberta-Jeanne (Gattilia) Guandalini; 5 children, David (Tomi) Guandalini, Judy Macala, Nancy (Gene) Goldstein, Marian (George) Krivda, and Peter (Cindy) Guandalini; 13 grandchildren, David, Amy, Tracey, Jessica, Sara, Meg, Josh, Jackie, Becky, Danielle, Katie, Annie and Joey; 6 great grandchildren; and many close friends. He was born on April 26, 1923 in North Haven, CT to Rosalia and Julius Guandalini. He was predeceased by his brothers, Warren and The Reverend Jules Guandalini; and his sister, Ann Gerbi. He had many occupations throughout his life but one in particular was most important to him. He served in the US Marine Corps for 4 years and served in the Pacific Theater. When he returned from the war, he became a milkman for Knudson’s Dairy where he worked for 30 years. Following this, he was a fraud investigator for the Bank of America for 10 years. He was also a part time member of the North Haven Police Department for 10 years. He was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for many years. During his time there, he sang in the choir with Roberta and served the church as a Eucharistic Minister for 6 years. He was a role model for all of us. We will remember him for the immensity of his love and the appreciation he had for his family and friends.
Joseph’s Funeral Procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven on Tuesday, May 24th at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Ave., Hamden at 11:00 AM with Father Sullivan officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the North Haven Center Cemetery. Family and friends are welcomed to call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, May 23rd.
