Nicolantonio “Tony†Tolomeo, 64, of 133 Rock Road, North Haven passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Yale-New Haven Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Caterina Russo Tolomeo. Born in Maierato, Provincia Vibo Valentia, Calabria, Italy on December 9th, 1946; son of the late Giacomo and Concetta Costa Tolomeo. Prior to coming to America, he served in the Italian Military. Mr. Tolomeo and his brother-in-law were co-owners and operators of Reno & Tony, Inc., a general contracting company. Prior to that he was a crane operator for the former Blakeslee Prestress Inc. Loving father of Concettina “Tina†Tolomeo, Elvira T. (Greg) Barbiero, Marisa (Luigi) Zurlo all of North Haven and Giacomo (Kyle) Tolomeo of Hamden. Adoring nonno of Adriana & Antonia Barbiero, and Giana Tolomeo. Beloved brother of Annunziata Virdo, Filomena Spessato and Vittoria LoBianco all of Italy. He also leaves behind many brother and sister-in-laws and nieces and nephews. Tony was loved and respected by all who knew him and was happiest spending time with his family and friends.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Tuesday morning at 11o’clock. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Therese Church at 11:30. Entombment will follow in the All Saints Mausoleum. Visiting hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 pm. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., I-91 Tech Ctr. #3, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
