Frank “Red†Esparo, 80, of North Haven passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011 in his home with his family by his side. Beloved husband of Alice Naclerio Esparo. Son of the late James and Anna Proto Esparo and son-in-law of the late Pasquale and Louise Naclerio. Loving father of Leigh Ann Esparo of Northford and Cara Schirrmeister of New York City. Also survived by three cherished grandchildren, Ann, Charles and James Schirrmeister. Brother of Anthony Esparo of Bethany and James Esparo of North Haven. Frank served as and armorer and artisifer during the Korean War in the U.S. Army and was a foreman at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft for 40 years. He played semi-pro football for the Westville AA’s and in 1947 was a Washington Redskins draft pick.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Monday morning at 9:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 10:00. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Sunday (TODAY) from 3 to 6 pm.
Uncle Red was beloved by all. He was quick with a joke and loved watching us all giggle. As reckless kids, it was his voice that got us to settle down and “behave”. H

We again send our heartfelt sympathy for the loss of our dear Red. Sorry we can’t be with you as per our phone call from Italy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. He was a great guy. Alice he was also a good golfer. We will miss him.
