Anthony Mazzarella, 92, of Broadway, Hamden passed away Friday, July 8, 2011 at his home. He was the husband of the late Leonilda Miconi Mazzarella. Born in Trapani, Sicily, Italy on April 4, 1919; son of the late Giuseppe and Luigia Grignano Mazzarella. Anthony served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army during WW II; was a custom tailor having worked for the former Fen Feinstein’s of New Haven where he tailored made suits for many famous individuals including United States Presidents; later he had worked for the former Anderson-Little Clothing Stores. Father-in-law of Gale Perry Mazzarella of Hamden. Grandfather of Lea DeCarlo and her husband Christian of Wallingford. Predeceased by a son Joseph L. Mazzarella; sisters Josephine and Salva Milana; and his companion Josephine Zullo.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Tuesday at 9:30 am. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 8:30 to 9:30 am. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10:00. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
