Alphonse D. Fezza, 91, of Hamden CT passed away peacefully on July 11 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Louise C. (Aceto) Fezza, his beloved children, Susan Fezza of Easton, and Andrew Fezza and his wife, Marilyn, of Weston and five grandchildren; Faith Fennelly, Lauren Fennelly, Christopher Fezza, Marisa Fezza and Maggie Fezza. He is also survived by his dear siblings; Mary Diglio of Hamden, Victoria Tomaso of North Haven, Dr. Michael Fezza of Hamden Roseanne Fezza of Hamden and Dr. Andrew Fezza of North Haven. He also left many loving nieces and nephews.

Al was born on July 9, 1920, the first son of Josephine and Andrew Fezza. He graduated from Commerical High School where he developed his reputation as a talented basketball player. As Captain he helped his team win many victories. After serving honorably in the United States Army during World War II, he had a successful career at Syntex Laboratories and Al continued to devote himself to his family, his siblings and his friendships. He and his buddies were a regular sight at their favorite coffee spots. Most of all he enjoyed time with his dear wife, Louise, and they remained inseparable until his last days at Hospice.

Family and friends may call at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, North Haven on Thursday morning, July 14 from 9 to 10:30 and are invited to attend a mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Whitney Avenue, Hamden at 11:00 am.
