Carmel Melillo Gandolfi, 93, formerly of North Haven, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011 at the Arden House Care and Rehabilitation Center, Hamden. She was the wife of the late Joseph “Gans†Gandolfi. Carmel was born in Hamden on November 13, 1917; daughter of the late Ferdinante and Concetta Merola Melillo. Carmel worked for the Platt & Labonia until her retirement. Mother of Nancy (Lawrence) Copeland of Hobe Sound, FL and Joseph (Joanne) Gandolfi of North Haven. Grandmother of Jennifer, Jarrod and Jessica Gandolfi all of North Haven. Sister of Albert “Shiney†Melillo, William (Janet) Melillo & Robert Melillo all of North Haven and the late Mary Ferrari, Dominic, Angelo “Milesâ€, George, Frederick & Andrew Melillo. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Thursday morning at 10:30. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30 to 10:30 am. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 11:00. Interment will follow in the North Haven Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 2911 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, CT 06518.
