Shirley A. Laoue Bartozzi, 75, of North Haven, formerly of West Haven for many years, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2014 at Gaylord Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Bartozzi for 37 years. Shirley was born in New Haven on May 9, 1938; daughter of the late Francis and Catherine Petrillo Laoue. She enjoyed going to the casino, doing crossword puzzles, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Mother of Joseph (Carol) Bartozzi, Anne (Michael) DeGregorio, Albert (Gail) Bartozzi and Debbie (Chip) Dunleavy. Grandmother of Gina (John) DePuma, Joseph M. and John C. Bartozzi, Robert J. Rasmussen, Isabella L. DeGregorio, Alissa M., Catherine L. and Anna L. Bartozzi, Jack, Brian, Connor and Katie Dunleavy. Great-Grandmother of Giuliana DePuma. Sister of Frances (Richard) DeFabio, Kay (Joseph) Colomonico, Mary (Frank) Arpino and the late Elise Galasso and Jeanette Lombardi. Sister-in-law of Louis Galasso. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to the nurses and staff at Gaylord Hospital for the excellent care and comfort they provided to Shirley.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Rita Church, 1620 Whitney Avenue, Hamden on Thursday morning at 10:00 to attend a Mass of Christian Burial and are also invited to attend the committal services immediately following in the St. Lawrence Garden Mausoleum, West Haven. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gaylord Fund c/o Gaylord Hospital, P.O. Box 400, Wallingford, CT 06492.
Shirley, you were a great frind and you'll be missed by me and all who had a chance to know you. I can't think of anyone else that I would have wanter for my (your) granddaughter Isabella more than you. Rest in peace now, with love, Mario

To the Family of Shirley Laoue Bartozzi, It has been many years since I have seen Shirley.I grew up with her on Putnam Street in New Haven.What a lovely family Elise,Francis,Kay,Jeanette and Little Mary!!!I will never forget those happy years of fun and most of all the shows we put on in the back hall,making tents and entertaining the kids with our shows and charging a penny to watch. Shirley was truly a cute kid.I am so sorry to not have kept up all these years.I just happened to get the Advisor today. My love and sincere sympathy to the family Of Shirley.
