John “Jack” Place, 82, of North Haven, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2014 at the MidState Medical Center, Meriden.  He was the husband of Virginia “Ginny” James Place and just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 26th.  Jack was born in Newark, New Jersey on January 2, 1932; son of the late John S. and Jennie VanSteenbergen Place; had worked for Western Electric for many years; was a member and past Commodore of the Pattaconk Yacht Club, Chester and the Swede Club, Deep River.  Jack leaves behind his four nieces who were like his daughters: Susan (John) Rosadini, Deborah (Gerald) Ruocco, Donna James and Eileen (Matthew) Ouellette.  Great-Uncle of John, Kevin, Lauren and Brian Rosadini, Michelle Ruocco, Kelsey and Megan Ouellette.  Predeceased by a brother-in-law, Roger “Bud” James and a niece, Kathryn James Baker.  Also survived by Kathryn’s husband James Baker and his beloved dachshund Heidi.

Family and friends may call at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm.  Funeral services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Haven, Inc. 89 Mill Road, North Haven, CT 06473.
