Edward Thomas Borkowski, 91, passed away, peacefully surrounded by family, on March 16, 2014. He was the husband of the late Jane A. Borkowski. Born in Meriden on March 7, 1923; a son of Telesfor Borkowski and Amelia Bobinski Borkowski. He grew up in New Haven, was a graduate of Hillhouse High School. Edward served in the United States Army during World War II in the 99th Infantry Division. He received his BS degree from the University of Connecticut and was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity. Edward worked as a procurement specialist at US Electrical Motors, a division of Emerson Electric. An avid reader, he enjoyed the theater and playing cards, he was a member of the Wallingford Senior Center. He and his wife loved traveling extensively with the Friendship Force and spending winters in the warmth of Florida. Most of all Edward, loved to spend time with his family and friends. He is the father of Martha (Paul) Swanson of Newington, Paul (Ulla) Borkowski of Boulder, CO, and Carl (Flor) Borkowski of Seminole, FL. He is the Grandfather of Eric and Andrew Swanson and Nicholas Borkowski. He is also survived by his sister, Henrietta DiLauro. Predeceased by sisters Pauline Henk, Genevieve Peck and brothers Raymond and John Borkowski.

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave, North Haven on Friday morning at 9:15. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in The Most Holy Trinity Church, Wallingford at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. The visiting hours will be Thursday from 5pm to 8pm.
