Joyce Englander Adler, 82, of Hamden formerly of North Haven passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Beloved wife of the late Richard Adler. Joyce was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 11, 1933; beloved daughter of the late Morris and Mary Englander. She was very actively involved with the girl scouts and loved playing Mahjongg. Mother of Marci (Kris) Patterson. Grandmother of Keith and Eliana. Sister of Adele Zukor.
Funeral services and interment were conducted on Monday, July 20th, 2015 under the direction of the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, North Haven, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Girl Scouts of CT, Susan G. Komen for the Cure or the Wounded Warrior Project.
My condolences to Joyce's family. She was my mentor when I first became a Girl Scout leader. She remained a person I could talk to for advice on the girls in my troop and later when I served as service unit manager. (I did learn not to call her on Wednesdays!) Her practical guidance is likely one of the reasons I am still a Girl Scout volunteer. She was a wonderful lady.
