Judith Ann (Burns) Morrissey, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother died on August, 20th in Branford, Connecticut. She was 73 years old. Born on July 31, 1938 in Springfield, Massachusetts, Mrs. Morrissey was the daughter of John F. and Alba Mayo Burns. Mrs. Morrissey graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield in 1956, and from Bay Path Junior College in 1958. Married to Donald J. Morrissey of Springfield in 1960, Mrs. Morrissey had four children. She was predeceased by a son, James M. Morrissey, and is survived by Joseph P. Morrissey of Norwalk, Connecticut, Joanne Morrissey of Northford, Connecticut, and John Morrissey of Concord, Massachusetts. Mrs. Morrissey is survived by her three children, two daughters-in-law, Kelly Morrissey and Aisling Morrissey, and five grandchildren: Tyler Morrissey of Northford, Alex and Lucas Morrissey of Norwalk, and Siobhan and Eoin Morrissey of Concord. Judith is also survived by her siblings: Joan Shibley and Nancy Osgood of Agawam, Massachusetts, John F. Burns Jr. of Plymouth, Massachusetts, and Barbara McCarthy of Madison, Connecticut. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to the CT Hospice, Branford for all the care and support they provided to Judith and her family.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Wednesday morning at 10:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Monica Church at 11:00. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Springfield, MA. The visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm.
