Retired NHPD Patrolman Franklin G. Johnson, Jr., 78, of Northford passed away peacefully on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Edeltraud Adamski Johnson. Franklin was born in New Haven on December 31, 1937; son of the late Franklin G. Johnson, Sr. and Roseanne Gunn Johnson; served his country faithfully in the US Army; served 30 years on the New Haven Police Department until his retirement; was a member of the Pine Grove Men’s Club, the Emerald Society; enjoyed his summers at his home in Maine, playing cards, hunting and was an avid reader. Father of Marion (David) Parise, Jeannie (William) Klink, Roseanne McCullough, Lori Johnson and Tracy (Rafael) Diaz. Brother of Robert (Patricia) Johnson, Kathryn (Jack) Grant and Barbara (Anthony) Esposito. Also survived by 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a granddaughter Shelby Spaulding.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue Friday morning at 11:00. Interment with full military honors will follow in Northford Cemetery.
