Joseph F. Guida, 86, of Frost Drive, North Haven, passed away Monday, September 5, 2011 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis M. (Giaimo) Guida. Born in New Haven on March 29, 1925; son of the late Amedeo and Carmel Antonelli Guida. He had worked for the Mite Corporation as a Tool & Dye Maker for many years until his retirement. Joseph served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Father of Joann DiMartino of North Haven and Joseph F. (Karen) Guida, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV. Grandfather of Ashley Hickey and Jennifer Guida. Great Grandfather of Chloe and Brooklyn Hickey. Brother of Lee Purpora of Milford and the late Evelyn Rossomando.
His Funeral Procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Friday morning at 9:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Therese Church at 10:00. Interment with full Military Honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 PM. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
