John Herman Frankforter Sr., 88, of North Haven, died on September 14th at his home with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of Jane Voos Frankforter. John was born on August 1, 1927, in Quantico, Virginia, son of Marine Sergeant Rudolph Frankforter and Anna Natt Frankforter. John grew up in the New Haven area and reminisced fondly of his first job as an usher at the Roger Sherman Theater. He attended Boardman Trade School and utilized his drafting skills at Winchester Repeating Arms Company and Pratt and Whitney, and also while serving in the Marines during the Korean War. John went on to become an electrical engineer working as a project manager and electrical estimator at several construction companies including C.N. Flagg and Northeast Testing. John enjoyed his vocation and up until last December was working full time for Paul Dinto Electrical Contractors Inc. John enjoyed music, particularly from the big band era. As a teen he would watch Glenn Miller parade the troops on the New Haven Green. Most recently he enjoyed attending the Donau Austrian Club to listen to the music of Scha-musi. John was the father of John (Diana) Frankforter, Lois Frankforter (Mark Rademacher), Kim Frankforter, and Tami Frankforter (Edward Edelman), and was the grandfather of Samantha Edelman, Sara Rademacher, Noah Frankforter, Matthew Rademacher and Avery Frankforter. He was predeceased by his siblings Hilbert Frankforter and Claire Sullivan.

Private funeral services have been entrusted to the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Museum of the Marine Corps at www.MarineHeritage.org
