Jaroslaw Gina, 72, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the VAMC, West Haven. Jaroslaw was born in Pidhaitsi, Ukraine on January 18, 1944; son of the late Hryhorij and Anna Fuks Gina; was a graduate the Ukrainian National School, Notre Dame High School where he played football and attended UCONN. Jaroslaw served his country faithfully in the US Army as a Specialist 4th Class. He was a very accomplished pianist which he enjoyed throughout his adulthood, was an avid soccer player, member of the Ukrainian Scouting Organization – "PLAST" and member of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church. Brother of Romana (Maxim) Thibodeau and Luba (Alex) Labunka. Uncle of Damian Thibodeau, Adrian (Tracey Armstrong) Thibodeau, Matthew and Andrew Labunka. Great Uncle of Gabriel and Adrianna Thibodeau.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue Wednesday morning, May 4th at 9:15. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Tuesday, May 3rd from 6 to 8 PM. Panakhyda service at 7:00 PM.
