Gabriel “Gabe” Piscitelli, 80, a resident of North Haven from 1960 until moving to East Haven in 2011, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the CT Hospice, Branford. He was the husband of 53 years to Patricia M. Farina Piscitelli. Gabe was born in New Haven on February 13, 1931; son of the late Clement and Anna Esposito Piscitelli; had served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Isherwood 520 as a medic and also at the Naval Hospital in Camp Lejeune, NC. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Gabe was employed for many years at Soundscriber Corp. until its closing; he later worked for the Town of North Haven Parks Dept. and later for the Public Works Dept. until his retirement. Gabe was a member of the American Legion Murray/Reynolds Post #76 of North Haven and the Isherwood 520 Association where he enjoyed many happy times at their yearly reunions. He was an avid New York Yankees fan. Father of Michael (Noreen) Piscitelli of North Branford, Debra (Mark) Riley of San Diego, CA, Tina (Dan) Genga of Old Saybrook and MaryBeth (Marty) Harrigan of Essex. Grandfather of Patrick Riley, Justine, Nicole & Kristina Mangino, Joseph Genga, Michael & Rachel Piscitelli, Matthew & Daniel Harrigan. Great-grandfather of Domenic Gabriel Mangino who was the light of his life. Predeceased by a brother James Piscitelli and sisters Philomena Sparico, Rose Fortino and Mary Piscitelli.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Tuesday morning at 9:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 10:00 am. Entombment with full military honors will follow in the All Saints Mausoleum. The visiting hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 pm.
