Samuel Docknevich, 90, of 80 Half Mile Road, North Haven passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the CT Hospice, Branford. Husband of Helen Ciesla Docknevich. Born in North Haven on January 5, 1921; son of the late Martin and Telka Rudaketvich Docknevich. Mr. Docknevich was a farmer all of his life which was his enjoyment and passion, especially working in his green houses and raising numerous shrubs from clippings. He also had worked for the former Federal Paperboard Co. Mr. Docknevich enjoyed and supported the Dominican Nuns of Guilford and his greatest love was that of his family. Father of Samuel (Laurie) Docknevich of Hopkinton, MA, Deborah (Richard) Howe of North Haven and the late Richard J. Docknevich. Grandfather of Rebecca Anne Howe, Kate Patricia Docknevich, Rachel Deborah Howe and Eric Samuel Docknevich. Predeceased by siblings Michael & Thomas Docknevich, Mary Ludovico and Anna Less.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Saturday morning at 10:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Therese Church at 11:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Grace Monastery, Dominican Nuns, 11 Race Hill Rd., North Guilford, CT 06437.
