Michael (Mickey) P. Lauria, 95, of Wallingford, died peacefully on October 1, 2011, at Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford. His wife, Carmelina, to whom he was married for over fifty years, predeceased him. He was born in New Haven on August 2, 1916, a son of the late Vito and Maria Valluza Lauria. For many years he worked at Clark and Barone, and Len-Crete. He was a proud member of the Teamster’s Union. After his retirement, he worked part-time at his son Mickey’s business, Total Performance. He had a passion for Harley Motorcycles and for many years attended the Laconia Motorcycle Week in New Hampshire. He was an active member of the Wallingford Senior Center. It was there he met his companion, Estelle Kozak, with whom he spent many enjoyable days. In addition to Estelle, his son, Michael V. Lauria, of Palm Coast, Florida, his granddaughters, Lisa Lauria Gulino and her husband, Rosario Gulino of Meriden, Gina Lauria Daschbach, and her husband Toby Daschbach, of New York and Angela Lauria of Washington, D.C., survive him. His six great grandchildren, Nicholas, Michael and Joseph Gulino, Jesse Malhotra, Cleo and Brady Daschbach, also survive him. He also leaves his special friends, Jeff and Trudy Guth, his good neighbors, and his friends at the Wallingford Senior Center. His sisters, Theresa Verrillo, Eleanor Mancuso, Mary Mingione, Ida DeStefano, and his brother Rocco Lauria predeceased him.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside funeral service on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 2:00 pm in All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave., North Haven. Please meet at the cemetery office to be escorted in procession to the graveside. There will be no visiting hours. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven has been entrusted with his arrangements.
