Dennis Albert Swanson, 62, of Cheshire, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2015 at the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven with his family by his side. He was the husband of Rosalie D’Amato Swanson. Dennis was born in New Haven on March 13, 1953; son of the late Albert and Edith Frederickson Swanson, and had worked as an Insurance Claims Adjuster for Safeco Insurance. Dennis was a member and past President of the Hamden Civitan Club and a member of the Pine Grove Men’s Club. He enjoyed traveling and playing golf. Father of Matthew Swanson. Brother of Katherine (Arcadio) Caraballo. Brother-in-law of William and Michele Sobolewski, Jon MacFarlane and the late Laura D’Amato. Uncle of Michael & Allison Sobolewski and Alyssa & Linnea Caraballo.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Tuesday morning at 10:30. Family and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 am. A mass of Christian burial will follow in St. Frances Cabrini Church at 11:00. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. I first met Dennis in August of 1995 when I became the new Branch Claims Managerbat the ASI Shelton Branch a Office. Dennis was the asst Mgr. Dennis was such a nice guy. Always humble and always looking out for his staff. Dennis knew his Property Claims like the back of his hand. Everyone that knew him, liked him. That's just how he was. The world was a much better place with Dennis in it. He will certainly be missed. My deepest heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. The world just lost one of the good guys.

I worked with Dennis when I first started at Safeco. I had the pleasure of meeting him at a business meeting in St. Louis in 2008. The one thing that I remember most was his kind spirit. My heart goes out to all of the family for their loss.
