Claire Dunham Lincoln, 85, of Hamden, CT, died Thursday, September 29, 2011, at the Whitney Center Health Center. Wife of the late Charles Ranlet Lincoln. Born in Richmond, VA on January 18, 1926, the daughter of Thomas Edward and Elizabeth Cocke Dunham. She was a graduate of Holton-Arms School, Bethesda, MD and received her undergraduate degree later in life in 1970 from Mundelein College, now part of Loyola University Chicago. She worked on the Assyrian Dictionary Project at the Oriental Institute, University of Chicago. From 1987-1992, she was a journalist for the Anne Arundel County Forest Conservancy Board where she wrote the “Tree Talk” column for The Capital, the Annapolis, MD newspaper. Sister of Thomas Edward Dunham, Jr. of New Fane, VT. Mother of Dr. Sarah Tucker Lincoln of Chicago, IL and the Rev. Matthew Ranlet Lincoln of North Haven, CT. Grandmother of Margaret Emily Lincoln, John Tucker Lincoln, and Phoebe Nakry Lincoln.
Her funeral will be at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 3 Trumbull Place, North Haven, CT on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Interment will be private. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue has been entrusted with Mrs. Lincoln’s arrangements.
