Richard C. O’Connell, 67, of Upper State Street, North Haven passed away suddenly Monday, November 21, 2011 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the husband of Dolores “Dee†Vece O’Connell. Born in New Haven on September 15, 1944; son of the late Raymond F. and Anna H. Reimer O’Connell. Richard served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; was an asbestos worker for Local #33 for many years until his retirement; coached Max Sinoway baseball for many years and was a New York Yankees baseball fan. Father of Sean R. O’Connell of Hamden and Brian K. O’Connell of North Haven. Grandfather of Ashlee, Seanie and Jynasis. Brother of Francis (Rosemarie) O’Connell of San Diego, CA, Trudy Conner of KY, Carol Pope of Hamden, and the late Raymond O’Connell and Joan Radue. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Friday morning at 9:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 10:00 am. Interment will full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 pm.

Mrs. O’Connell, Sean, & Brian…I am saddend to hear of Mr. O’s passing. I will never forget my most favorite baseball coach ever. he was a great man and i am so lucky to have know not just him, but all of your for so many years. May God be with you all through this difficult time. God Bless.
