Richard Adler, 81, of North Haven, passed away Monday, October 28, 2013 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Beloved husband of Joyce (Englander) Adler and would have been married sixty years in December. Richard was born in Bronx, New York on October 5, 1932; son of the late Benjamin and Sarah (Bresnick) Adler; obtained an Associate degree in Civil Engineering from SUNY Delhi; had worked too many menial jobs to list including the Big Top in New Haven and had worked for the Connecticut Dept of Transportation for 32 years retiring as a records examiner/auditor in 1991.  Richard was a member of the Northeast Volunteer Fire Assoc. Company #5; the Temple Beth Sholom Men’s Club; the Oddfellows; the North Haven Senior Center Chorus; the Girl Scouts of USA – life member-CT Trails Council earning the highest national volunteer award.  Father of Marci (Kris) Petterson of Hamden.  Grandfather of Keith and Eliana.  Brother of Alvin (Vita) Adler of Woodridge, NY.  He will be missed by everyone whose lives touched his.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Temple Beth Sholom,1809 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, Tuesday (TODAY) morning at 11:00.  Interment will follow in the Beth Sholom Cemetery. Please omit flowers and make all contributions to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Lustgarten Foundation or the Girl Scouts of CT.  The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue has been entrusted with the arrangements.
