Edna Albina Briglia Proto, 90, a former resident of East Haven and North Branford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 3rd 2016 at the Willows in Woodbridge. She was the beloved wife of the late Andrew F. Proto. Edna was born in Newark, NJ on September 9th 1925 and is the daughter of the late James and Albina Luciotti Briglia.
Edna was most fulfilled when exercising her creative gifts of sewing and cooking. Her famous apple pie and chocolate chip cookies were loved and enjoyed by her family, and various neighbors who were recipients of her labors. She was a natural in the role of true matriarch of the family which she loved and served unconditionally and tirelessly, especially her children and grandchildren. Mother of Sandy (George) DeSola, Andrea (Joseph) Fambrough and Cynthia (Patrick Edwards) Walker. Also survived by six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock. Family and friends may call from 10 o’clock am until time of service. Interment will follow in East Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to Compassus Hospice and Palliative Care, 109 Boston Post Road, Orange, CT 06477.
