William H. “Bill” Obier, 75, a resident of North Haven since 1951, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Mary Jane C. Rowe Obier. Bill was born in New Haven on August 18, 1939; son of the late John and Helen Donahue Obier; served his country faithfully in the US Army in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and was a manager for Partyka Chevrolet, Hamden having worked from 1965 until leaving due to illness in February of this year. Bill enjoyed traveling, especially cruising with his family; was an automobile enthusiast and a NASCAR fan. Father of Susan Obier-Pfeiffer and her husband Kevin. Grandfather of Gillian G. Pfeiffer. Brother of Ronald F. Obier and his wife Bernice and the late John E. Obier, Jr. Brother-in-law of Richard R. Rowe, Ercole Iarusso and his wife Ida Mae, and Ellen Obier. Also survived by nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Saturday morning at 9:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 10:00 am. Interment with full military honors will follow in the In Memoriam Cemetery, Wallingford. The visiting hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 pm. Dear Sue,Kevin and Gillian, so very sorry to hear of your dad and granddads passing. I worked with him over 18 yrs,he was a good guy,he always had his as he put it, "backdoor ways of fixing things" whether it be his cars or anything at the house,he even gave me pointers how to fix some of the things at my house.Please take heart in knowing he is with your mom now, the love of his life and that they are on their eternal cruise and will be watching over all of you.
