Antonio A. Tommasone, 85, was granted his angel wings on December 10, 2011. His final days were spent surrounded by family at his Northford home. Antonio was born on February 24, 1926 in Alvignano, Caserta, Italy to the late Giuseppe and Rachele (Friello) Tommasone. He came to the United States with his family in 1972. He was employed by Sargent Corporation for three years and at Mite Corporation for 16 years. Antonio had a green thumb when it came to gardening and was an expert with his wine making. Antonio was happiest when he was around his family and never missed the opportunity to attend a family gathering. Antonio is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Antonietta Tommasone, his two sisters Teresa and Santina Tommasone and two brothers, Giuseppe of Alvignano, Italy and Vittorio Tommasone of England. Antonio is also survived by his four beloved children, Rachele (Lina) Malangone and her husband Carmine, Dario Tommasone and his wife Maria, Dora Morra and her husband Luciano, and Patricia Tommasone Struzinski. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, Alessandro, Giuseppe, Christina, Gerardo, Lucia, Carina, Pasquale, Jessica, Nunzio, Matthew, and Alessia. He is additionally survived by his three great grandsons Massimo, Samuel and Matteo Malangone. Antonio is predeceased by his two brothers, Mario and Luigi Tommasone, and his sister Mariangela Tommasone (Perretta) all of Italy.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Tuesday morning at 9:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Monica Church at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow in the All Saints Mausoleum. The visiting hours will be Monday (TODAY) from 4 to 8 pm.
