Patricia Dingle Wiedenmann, 69, of Northford, CT passed away of surgical complications on Thursday, January 12th. She was the beloved wife of Robert G. Wiedenmann for 53 years. He survives her along with their son Robert G. Wiedenmann, Jr. and daughter-in-law Judy Wiedenmann of Wallingford, Donna Wiedenmann of North Branford and five grandchildren. They include Jason Cann and Quintin Cann of Northford, Aubrey Cann Schoenfeld (Nick) of Los Angeles, as well as Amy and Kyle Wiedenmann of Wallingford. Pat was born in New Haven to Frederick Dingle and Margaret Spargo Dingle. After devoting her life to raising her own children and caring for many others, she pursued a career in teaching. She enjoyed 15 years of classroom excitement in the Hamden School District, specializing in inspiring children toward academic success through the town’s TAG program. Her devotion to educating young people created an enduring legacy of enthusiastic students and grateful parents. Pat previously served as a social worker with the Wallingford Welfare Department. Pat and Bob’s welcoming Northford home has been the gathering place for family and friends since it was built as a pioneering green home in 1983. In retirement, they divided their time between Northford and Peoria, AZ, creating a new welcome center for an expanding circle of friends and family. Her generous spirit and nonjudgmental embrace represents an extraordinary combination of homegrown Yankee values and keen curiosity about the larger world. My heart aches today, I have lost a true and loyal friend. A friend I shared popcorn with at the movies, margaritas by the pool and slumber parties with Pat and Pam where we giggled like school girls. It was common for us to lay by the pool and talk the day away. We had late night converstations by the fire pit as we counted the evening stars. My time with Pat will never be forgotten. After my husband passed away, Pat and Bob opened their hearts and home to me when my life seemed empty. My weekends will never by the same now, but God has given me memories that I will hold dear forever. I hold both Pat, Bob and family in a special place in my heart.
I loved you, my special friend.
Till we meet again,
Patty
Pat made such a positive difference in my two TAG kids, Emma and Kevin. She and Ms. Barile were as loving and compassionate as they were creative and intelligent in their teaching. My son and I fully intended to take part in the service, but he was working on an extra credit movie for his Senior year at HHS and the “extras” were only available on Sunday. So I spent the day and evening with a houseful of past TAG kids working on academic credit. I suppose Pat would much prefer my supporting role to them. We shared some special memories of her, and continue to keep you all in our prayers.
Bobby and Family, we’re are very sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom. Millie and I will keep your Mom, Pop and family in our thoughts and prayers.
To the Wiedenmann Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
We are socked to hear of Pat’s death. She was a delightful caring friend and we are all sadden by her death. God Bless you.
Although we have known Pat only for a short while, we feel like we have known her for a long time.
We share with Donna and the rest of the family the pain and hope that our prayers will bring some comfort and help you to cope with her loss.
A wonderful woman who inspired the young and old. Rest in peace.
To the Wiedenmann family we extend our sincere condolences. Cliff and I always found Pat to be a very special person – more than a patient – a friend. We both looked forward to seeing her and hearing what was going on in her life. We will truly miss her. Cliff and Marie Williams
We are heartbroken, everyone Pat touched was better because of her.
Thinking of the family at this difficult time-
Pat will be sorely missed.
