Anna Avallone Carchia, 84, of Punta Gorda, FL and North Haven, CT passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at her home in FL. She was the wife of the late Ettore F. Carchia. Born in Caserta, Italy on January 10, 1928; daughter of the late Vincenzo and Concetta Botacelli Avallone. Anna and her late husband were the owners and operators of the former Grant & Kimberly Market of New Haven for many years until their retirement. Mother of Oto (Paula) Carchia of MA, Emma (Edward) Nichols of FL, Vincent (Phyllis) Carchia of NJ, Adolfo (Sandra) Carchia of Meriden, Salvatore (Phyllis) Carchia of Milford and Americo (Regina) Carchia of North Haven. Grandmother of Lisa (Kevin) Caffrey, Rachel Costa, Annamarie (Steve) Scheimreif, Vincent (Olivia) Carchia, Gina (Michael) Franz, Christina Carchia, Carl (Stephanie) Carchia, Maria (Bob) Darren, Chrystal, Salvatore, Joseph, John, Ettore, Christopher, Juliana, Emily and Elizabeth Carchia. Great-grandmother of Sebastian Costa, Brittney & Joseph Caffrey, John Scheimreif, Libby Carchia, John & Emma Franz, Abigail & Nina Darren, Lena & Sean Carchia. Also survived by four sisters in Italy.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue on Monday morning at 9:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 10:00. Entombment will follow in the All Saints Mausoleum. The visiting hours will be Sunday from 2 to 6 pm.
Your Mom was a beautiful woman & now a beautiful angel, who will always keep watch over all of you. Memories keep her close to you in spirit and thought, and always in your heart, today and forever. May your loving memories bring you strength, comfort, and peace.
